IN THE LAND OF BACCHUS

The Moselle valley in the east of Luxembourg, forming the border with Germany, is mainly famed as a wine-growing region, producing high-quality white wines which are best tasted with fried fish at one of the renowned restaurants of the picturesque Luxembourg Wine Route. However, the Moselle also offers numerous possibilities for pleasant hikes through the vineyards.

For Luxembourg, "d'Musel", the Moselle River is much more than drawing a natural border of 42 km between the Grand Duchy and Germany. It is a scenic and vibrant to the east, extending the Schengen Wasserbillig south to north. Protected by the winds, the relatively mild climate and sunny steep slopes, the valley of the Moselle is primarily a wine region with long tradition. It also offers an extensive network of hiking and cycling and a variety of water sports like water skiing, sailing or surfing. Spa enthusiasts can relax at the Spa in Mondorf-les-Bains, the only spa in the Grand Duchy

The local walking circuit (fichier Wellenstein) (7.9 km; waymarkers: blue triangle on a white background) offers superb views over the Moselle valley, particularly from the Scheuerberg vantage point, and leads, among other things, through vineyards and the "Kuebendällchen" conservation area.
