The Grand-Duchy represents a true Mecca for all gourmets and gourmets. Luxembourg not only has the highest concentration of award-winning restaurants per inhabitant or per square kilometre, but is also the native country of Léa Linser, the 1st woman to have won the Bocuse d’Or ! It is therefore not by chance that Luxembourg will for the 11th time already host the Expogast – the Culinary World Cup (from 20 to 24 November 2010). More than 700 chefs from 5 different continents will show off trends in 21st century cooking at this Fair. A number of international companies from the food industry have, furthermore, chosen very cosmopolitan Luxembourg to test new products or innovative tastes. If this high-flying cuisine reflects the international side of Luxembourg well, it is not short on authenticity. The regional cuisine uses high quality local wines, and even its very well-known beers. |
|
Luxembourg’s natural parks produce high quality foodstuffs. Ham, herbal teas, local beer, spelt or walnut-based products are the symbol of Ardennes produce, as fish is a symbol of the Moselle region, together with meat pie with Riesling. There are also sweet specialities on offer: fruit tarts, pralines and Christmas biscuits. The regional markets will introduce you to a number of specialities – the Vianden walnut market in October, the Mondorf culinary market in June, the Moselle wine fairs – and the weekly markets offering high quality regional products. www.foodmap.lu |
